Top Shelf CBD is the newest shop in Manhattan, Kansas. The idea come from one of the owners that researched the CBD industry for twenty-four years. This industry is growing and is projected to keep growing in the next several years and will become a mainstream product.
The founders of Top Shelf CBD bring over 25 years of retail experience. Jeremy Meek is the voice of the company and brings education and administrative experience, along with years in social services and health care systems. Ray Hanning brings strong experience in retail with store set up and flow, inventory processes, POS systems, par levels and overall management. The third owner brings various organizational, financial, and leadership experience.
This business idea started in the summer of 1998, as a first-year student at Kansas State University Jeremy Meek wrote a research paper on CBD and the potential medical benefits. In December of 2001, he took a trip to Europe to further his research. He visited coffee shops and spoke to owners on how they ran, operated, and sustained business. For years, opening his own CBD shop was a dream out of reach. But in 2008, American laws and political opinions began seriously shifting. States started to decriminalize and legalize medicinal use and/or legalizing it for recreational use. As the years followed, other states adopted these laws and ideas. In 2018, the federal Farm Bill legalized CBD on a national level. In 2023, Jeremy and his business partners decided this is the time to open Top Shelf CBD in Manhattan, Kansas.
Top Shelf's primary product is CBD and hemp products: Hemp oil, also known as hemp seed oil, oil is made from hemp, a cannabis plant like the drug marijuana but containing little to no tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), the chemical that gets people “high”. Instead of THC, hemp contains cannabidiol (CBD), a chemical that has been used to treat everything from epilepsy to anxiety, in humans and dogs and cats
as well.
Hemp oil is not the same as cannabidiol (CBD) oil. The production of CBD oil uses the stalks, leaves, and flowers of the hemp plant, which contain higher concentration of CBD, another potentially beneficial compound in the plant. Hemp seed oil comes from the small seeds of the cannabis sativa plant.
Since the passing of the Federal Farm Bill Act of 2018, CBD has been legalized on a federal level across the United States. CBD comes in many forms including, flower, capsules, gummies, tincture, oils, lotions, beauty products, products for dogs and cats, and many more.
Types of Products we carry:

● CBD Products for Health & Wellness: this includes; CBD sleep aid gummies, CBD pain relief cream for joint and arthritis, Cooling rub for sore muscles, CBD bath bombs, tinctures for calming. Lastly, we have CBD products for daily wellness, immunity and recovery.
● CBD Gummies: CBD Gummies are consumable treats that contain cannabidiol (CBD) oil. CBD gummies should only be consumed as directed by taking 1 or 2 gummies, or about 20-25 mg of CBD, per day. CBD gummies are made with full spectrum hemp oil extracted from high-quality non-GMO hemp grown in the USA. The hemp oil is then infused into gummies to create a sweet way to consume CBD. The benefits of CBD gummies may help provide relief from mild discomfort, provide positive mental support, and help improve mood.
